The benefits of jojoba oil

The benefits of jojoba oil

08/05/2021

Moisturizing, nourishing, softening, soothing, regenerating ... if there was only one, it would be it: jojoba oil. This fluid and odourless vegetable oil promises to take care of your skin and hair, while regulating excess sebum and preventing skin ageing. Multifunctional, it is the ideal care for all those who wish to keep only the bare minimum in their bathroom, and use only natural cosmetics, respectful of their body and the environment!

WHAT IS JOJOBA OIL?

Jojoba oil is obtained by pressing the wax contained in the seeds of jojoba, a shrub native to California, southern Arizona and northwestern Mexico. Known as "desert gold", jojoba has been cultivated for many centuries, especially by the American Indians who used its oil for its healing, moisturizing and protective properties.

The delicate amber colour of jojoba oil promises many wonders... It is rich in omega 9 fatty acids, and unsaponifiables (components of a vegetable oil that cannot be transformed into soap, and which have preserved all its properties) such as: nutrients (copper, zinc, linoleic acid), biotin, niacin and vitamin E. As you will have understood, jojoba oil is a concentrate of benefits. Its composition, particularly close to that of human sebum, gives it unequalled virtues to regulate the production of the latter. Last but not least: it is easily assimilated by the skin, leaving no oily effect.

Omega 9 fatty acids: Omega 9s contain a large proportion of oleic acid, present in the sebum of our hydrolipidic film, whose role is to protect the skin from external aggressions. They ensure good membrane plasticity and play the role of anti-inflammatories while nourishing the epidermis. The skin is elastic, supple and moisturized!

Unsaponifiables (copper, zinc, linoleic acid, biotin, niacin and vitamin E): by trapping the free radicals responsible for the oxidation of our cells and their premature aging, unsaponifiables help prevent the first signs of aging. They boost the skin's barrier function, activate collagen production and promote skin elasticity by protecting elastin (a protein that helps the skin regain its initial shape after a movement or a pinch).

Akane's advice: choose a 100% pure and natural, organic and cold-pressed jojoba oil to be sure that it has not undergone any chemical treatment and that it has retained its countless benefits!

IN WHICH CASES SHOULD IT BE USED?

TO NOURISH AND MOISTURIZE THE FACE AND BODY

jojoba oil application

Jojoba oil can be used on the face and body. Its advantage: it is suitable for all skin types! It nourishes and repairs dry, very dry and/or atopic skin, firms up mature skin lacking in tone, and moisturizes normal, combination or oily skin. With an index of comedogeneity null (0/5), it does not block the pores, and does not involve the appearance of any button, black spot or microcyst. For combination skin, this is a much better option for you than coconut oil.

Directions for use: apply jojoba oil to clean, dry skin, just after showering, to soften the epidermis dried by the hard water and rubbing of the towel. In the palm of your hand, pour a few drops and then apply from the bottom of the body upwards in a circular massage. Hydration and tonus guaranteed!

It can also be used at any time of the day, whenever the need arises, and even on the particularly sensitive skin of very young children.

Esther - "For some time now, I didn't recognize my skin, it was less elastic, less firm and I looked tired all the time. The treatment oil is a very good product. My skin is more luminous, more plump. I would repurchase especially since it lasts a long time."

TO REPAIR DAMAGED SKIN

Jojoba oil's number one asset is its ability to repair damaged skin. It helps fade stretch marks, soothe sensitive skin and irritated by the sun, hair removal, a scar or eczema, while helping our cells to fight against free radicals.

Simply apply a few drops to the affected area and massage gently until fully absorbed.

TO CURE ACNE

Jojoba oil strengthens the skin's hydrolipidic film, regulates and purifies oily skin with acneic tendencies.

Every evening, after removing your make-up and washing with a mild gel or neutral soap, apply 2 to 3 drops of jojoba oil to your face and massage in circular motions until fully absorbed. For even more effectiveness, you can add a few drops of purifying essential oils to your oil, such as tea tree, rose geranium, true lavender, bitter orange, myrtle or palmarosa EO.

TO PREVENT SKIN AGING

Jojoba oil is ideal for deeply moisturising the skin, boosting collagen production and calming inflammation that damages elastin, the protein that gives the skin suppleness and elasticity. Thanks to it, fine lines and wrinkles fade and the skin retains its plump, plump appearance for longer.

Morning and evening, you can replace your day and night cream with 2 to 3 drops of jojoba oil. Apply to clean, dry skin, massaging in circular motions with your fingertips to activate blood circulation. It is perfectly assimilated by the epidermis and does not leave an oily film.

You can also use jojoba oil as an anti-spot and anti-wrinkle mask. To do this, simply mix 2 to 3 teaspoons of jojoba oil with an egg yolk, then apply the mixture to the entire face for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with clear water, using a cotton pad if necessary.

TO NOURISH AND MOISTURIZE THE HAIR

jojoba oil in the hair

Hair too can benefit from the many advantages of jojoba oil. It is recommended to hydrate and regulate excess sebum in mixed to oily scalps, to bring tone and shine to dull and tired hair, to soothe sensitive or irritated scalps, and to repair split ends. Its little extra: it does not grease the hair and does not weigh it down!

As a mask: coat lengths and ends with jojoba oil on damp hair. Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes then shampoo as usual.

In oil bath: on dry hair, apply two tablespoons of jojoba oil to your scalp (more or less depending on the length of your hair). Massage with your fingertips, pressing lightly on your scalp and then spread the product over the lengths and ends. Wrap your hair with a soft towel and leave on for at least 1 hour (overnight if necessary). Then wash your hair with a mild shampoo adapted to your hair type and rinse abundantly with clear water.

Jojoba oil can also be applied to damp, clean hair as a finishing treatment. Coat lengths and ends with a few drops, smooth with your fingers and leave on. It will thus moisturize the hair without weighing it down, throughout the day.

HOW TO KEEP IT?

preserving jojoba oil

Jojoba oil is extremely stable as it can be stored for up to ten years! It freezes below 10° without altering its properties. Just like coconut oil, it is enough to pass the bottle under a trickle of hot water for a few moments to recover its liquid appearance. The ideal is to keep it in a cool and dry place, away from light.
