The incredible Muscat Rose Oil

Muscat rose oil could be like a small vial of magic product, so full of unsuspected benefits for the beauty of our skin. Less well known than other vegetable oils, this active ingredient from South America has some very nice surprises to reveal...

THE LITTLE STORY OF MUSCAT ROSE OIL...

The Muscat Rose (Rosa rubiginosa) is a small, thorny shrub with a wingspan of about 2.5 metres that belongs to the botanical family Rosaceae. It grows wild in many parts of the world, but is found mainly in the Andes Cordillera, where the rainy, cold climate is particularly conducive to its proliferation. Although it has been known for centuries on the European continent, it was in Chile that it began to be used for medicinal and therapeutic purposes.

For a long time considered a weed, this shrub nevertheless has delicate white, cream and sometimes pink flowers, growing in bunches from June until the first frosts. These are transformed into ovoid-shaped fruits, which turn bright red when ripe, and are extremely rich in vitamin C. From this plant is extracted the oil of muscat rose by first cold pressing of the seeds of its fruits. Today, Chile is the market leader, covering about 85% of world demand.

Muscat rose oil contains many active ingredients that explain its incredible effectiveness:

Omega 3: Omega 3s are polyunsaturated essential fatty acids. They are essential for the proper functioning of our brain and for the development of our body. Moreover, they allow a good oxygenation of our cells and therefore act directly on our epidermis. As they are not produced by the body, it is necessary to consume and use them in our cosmetic products. They are found in fatty fish, cod liver oil, nuts, rapeseed, flax, eggs, meat (if the animals have been properly fed and raised outdoors) and green vegetables. Rosehip oil contains between 27 and 36% omega 3.

Omega 6: Omega 6s are also polyunsaturated essential fatty acids found in most vegetable oils, seeds and cereals. They help strengthen the immune system and help maintain the skin's role as a barrier against toxins. They also facilitate the assimilation of nutrients in the epidermis. Muscat rose oil contains between 43 and 46% omega 6.

Omega 9: Omega 9s are monounsaturated fatty acids that the body is able to make from saturated fatty acids. They have beneficial effects on the risks of hypertension and help to strengthen the hydrolipidic film of the skin to help maintain its elasticity, suppleness and hydration. Muscat rose oil contains between 13 and 17% omega 9.

Saturated fatty acids: rose hip oil contains between 1 and 4% stearic acid and between 3 and 5% palmitic acid. Both are healthy saturated fatty acids. They have nourishing properties and protect from external aggressions thanks to their film-forming, emollient and antiseptic action. The skin is soft and plumped up!

Vitamin A (or retinol): is a powerful antioxidant and maintains skin health while protecting the body from infections. It is found in certain vegetables and fruits such as carrots, apricots, mangoes, green vegetables, sweet potatoes, parsley...

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid): it helps fight against oxidation and strengthens the immune system. Guava, orange, blackcurrant, parsley, red, yellow and green (but raw) peppers, lemon zest, Brussels sprouts, lychee and kiwi are plants that are very rich in vitamin C.

Vitamin E: This is a particularly effective antioxidant. It thus helps to protect our cells from oxidation, which is responsible for the premature ageing of our cells. It is notably found in vegetable oils, nuts, seeds and fatty fish.

Vitamin K: this vitamin is involved in coagulation, bone mineralization and cell growth. It has anti-inflammatory properties and plays an important role in cardiovascular health. It is also found in cabbage, spinach, dandelions, green beans, kiwis and fresh parsley.

Squalenes: this ingredient can be either of plant or animal origin. It is one of the main components of the skin surface. Many anti-aging cosmetics and moisturizers contain squalenes, particularly for their emollient and antioxidant properties.

HOW TO USE MUSCAT ROSE OIL?

Muscat rose oil can be used pure or added to other skin care products. In both cases, it is applied in light circular massages until it is completely absorbed. Not very greasy, it offers a dry touch. You can add a few drops to your day or night cream, your anti-aging care, your after-shave balms, your moisturizing or nourishing creams for hands, face and body and your anti-stretch mark oils to reinforce their action.

Like all vegetable oils, rose hip oil is particularly sensitive to oxidation. It will keep for a maximum of 8 months after opening and must be kept in its original container, closed, away from air and light and in a cool place, such as the refrigerator. Never exceed the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
