A body ritual: dry brushing

A body ritual: dry brushing

Dry skin brushing is a skin care technique that consists of brushing the body with a natural hair brush. What are the virtues of this ritual? For whom and how often? How and with what to carry out my dry brushing? The following article lifts the veil on this new beauty trend with multiple virtues.

What are the benefits of dry brushing?

Skin as soft as silk

The action of brushing your body removes dead skin cells and unclogs pores, leaving your skin softer and smoother.

Once the dead cells and toxins are eliminated, your moisturizer will have even more effect.

Our tip: do your dry brushing and apply Akane Nourishing Tatin Cream all over your body. Result: a skin without tightness, supple and satiny.

Homemade lymphatic drainage

A good massage stimulates blood circulation and helps fight cellulite. In fact, using circular movements with the brush on areas with cellulite stimulates the lymphatic system and reduces the orange peel effect.

A gentle exfoliation

With its rotating gestures and brisk brushing, one of the benefits of dry brushing is to gently exfoliate. Dead skin cells are removed, encouraging cell regeneration for toned, radiant skin.

A moment of well-being

This treatment brings a real feeling of well-being. Its relaxing and anti-stress virtues allow to release tensions.

Is it right for my skin?

Dry brushing is suitable for all skin types but if your skin is very sensitive, damaged, injured or even sick (eczema, acne, psoriasis, shingles) be careful.

If you are pregnant, avoid the belly and recent stretch marks.

How often can I do my dry brushing?

Do your dry brushing when you feel your skin needs it. As a detox treatment, daily, twice a week or as a weekly maintenance treatment. The key is to monitor your skin and its reactions.

Depending on the time of day, dry brushing will not have the same effect:

  • In the morning, these few gestures wake up and energize your body.
  • In the evening, on the other hand, dry brushing relaxes your muscles and your mind.

Although this treatment is equally effective in summer and winter, it is pleasant in cold weather. It warms up the body of those who are cold!

Our tips for effective dry brushing

It only takes 5 to 10 minutes to feel the benefits of this body routine.

The beginnings can be a bit surprising, your body needs to get used to this new sensation. It is important to listen to your skin and manage the pressure you give to your massage.

  • Start with the feet, underneath, on top, then move up the legs in small circles to the top of the thighs.
  • Rub your hands and arms up to your armpits, before focusing on your back and buttocks.
  • Move to the belly, then the chest and the back of the neck. The skin here is very thin, so go delicately.
  • And there you go, just rinse!

To soothe your skin, choose a shower oil and a comforting moisturizer. If you brush in the morning and you don't like a cream that is too greasy, choose Akane Sorbet Milk. Akane Sorbet Milk penetrates quickly and leaves your skin fresh and moisturized for the day.

Which brush to use?

The choice of your brush is essential, a too abrasive hair could damage your skin. We advise you to use a brush with natural bristles specifically designed for this purpose

No need to clean your brush every time you use it, once every two weeks with soapy water is enough!
