The Konjac Akane Sponge, for a skin-friendly cleansing
The Konjac sponge originates from Amorphophallus konjac, a plant of the Araceae family growing in Southeast Asia. This plant contains an impressive root which, after being ground and reduced to a powder and mixed with water, has the appearance of a liquid paste. This is then moulded, heated, cooled and freeze-dried. At the end of this meticulous process, the famous little Mochi-shaped sponge is born, which Asians, especially the Japanese, are fond of.
In the shape of a small hard and dry dome, the Konjac sponge becomes soft, malleable and spongy when it is soaked in warm water. 100% natural and biodegradable, it offers the skin a deep cleansing that respects both the epidermis and the environment! It can be found in our cosmetics section in different versions: white, enriched with pink, green or yellow clay, added to charcoal, green tea, yuzu or aloe vera. At Akane, we offer different versions of the Konjac sponge, so that every skin can find its happiness.
The white Konjac sponge is pure and natural and is suitable for all skin types.
Which Konjac for my skin?
Different kinds of clays are added to Konjac flour to adapt it to different skin types and concerns.
At Akane, we offer Konjac sponges enriched with white or pink clay, bamboo charcoal or aloe vera powder, so that each skin is matched with the product that will become the essential part of its skincare ritual.
Pink Konjac Sponge: enriched with pink clay, it is suitable for dry and sensitive skin. It is simply a mixture of two clays: red clay, rich in trace elements and iron oxide, and white clay.
Konjac sponge with charcoal: black and enriched with bamboo charcoal, it is particularly suitable for combination to oily skins prone to imperfections. The charcoal allows to absorb excess sebum, to deeply cleanse the skin and to matify it!
Konjac Aloe Sponge: enriched with aloe vera powder with softening and soothing properties, it is suitable for dehydrated skin or skin weakened by the sun. Aloe vera is known for its moisturizing and regenerating properties.
Konjac Aloe Body Sponge: the Konjac Akane Sponge also exists for the body! Larger than the sponge for the face, its shape allows an easy grip. Enriched with aloe vera powder with softening and soothing properties, it is ideal for washing young children but also older children!

Tips for use
The white Konjac sponge is recommended for the morning cleansing of the face and to perfect make-up removal at the end of the day. You can use it in the morning and in the evening. When it dries, it becomes hard and curls up. Simply spend a few moments under warm water to restore its softness and elasticity!
Once you've taken a sip of water, squeeze it gently with your fist, without twisting it to wring it out: you risk breaking the fibres that make it up and thus damaging it. You can use the white Konjac sponge as part of Akane's triple cleansing routine for radiant, flawless skin.
Sponge Konjac for a few moments under lukewarm water. Once the sponge has absorbed the water and regained its suppleness, squeeze it gently. Remove make-up from your face with an organic make-up remover, such as our Akane Make-up Remover Oil. Then apply a small amount of organic facial cleanser to the moistened Konjac sponge. With light circular movements on the wet face, rinse off with clear water. Rinse your sponge as well. Dry your face by dabbing with a towel. Finish this care ritual with a cloud of Flower and Fruit Water, enriched with organic rose floral water. Result: the skin is clean, refreshed and soothed, the skin texture is refined and the complexion is luminous!
How to take care of your Konjac sponge
In order for the white Konjac sponge to last as long as possible, it must be taken care of. After each use, squeeze it well to remove the water from the sponge and hang it in a dry place. Do not twist the fibres, just squeeze with a few squeezes of your hand. Do not hesitate to disinfect it twice a week by immersing it for 1 to 2 minutes in a container of boiling water. After three months, it is advisable to change the Konjac sponge. If the sponge remains stiff and/or crumbles, you should invest in a new one.
