BEST PRACTICES FOR GETTING THE FULL BENEFITS OF A FACE MASK
PREPARE THE SKIN FOR THE CARE
To take full advantage of all the benefits of your face mask, there are a few recommendations.
Your skin must first be clean. Before applying a mask, make-up is removed with a make-up remover oil in order to completely dissolve even the most stubborn make-up. To ensure that your skin is perfectly free of impurities, it is then cleansed with a gentle cleansing gel. If your timing is tight, you can stop there and proceed to the application of the masks. For others, in order to maximize the benefits of the mask, we suggest 2 additional steps...
The first step is to perform a gentle facial scrub. Apply a small amount to dampened skin and massage gently in circular motions for one minute. You can put a little more emphasis on the rough areas of your face. This scrub removes dead cells, scrapes the skin and activates blood microcirculation. When choosing a scrub, avoid those composed of microbeads. These microbeads are often made of plastic and pollute the oceans. Turn to those based on crushed fruit stones for example.
For that extra second step, we offer our face a steam bath. This step gently opens the pores of the skin to dislodge the last small persistent impurities, stimulates blood circulation and allows the mask to penetrate better. If you wish, you can add a few drops of essential oil (selected according to your skin type) in the water to amplify the benefits of the steam bath. In case of a cold, the addition of essential oil also helps to decongest the nose.
To make the steam bath, boil water and pour it into a bowl. Wait a few seconds for the water to cool slightly. Then place your face 30 to 40 cm above the bowl and cover your head with a towel. Wait about 5 to 10 minutes, breathe deeply and close your eyes to relax as much as possible. When the time has elapsed, wipe off the remaining steam gently with a tissue.
